This October 7th, yesterday, Venezuela had it's elections.
Why is this important? I don't know, it may change depending on you...
Hopefully, you know that Hugo Chavez is the president of Venezuela and that he is an interesting fellow, have being in power since 1999 and being re-elected until 2019, as well as being a comrade of the Communist brothers, Fidel and Raul Castro, and the Socialists leaders, Evo Morales of Bolivia, Rafael Correa of Ecuador, and Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua.
These words, "comrade", "Communist", "Socialits", blah blah blah, should or maybe are raising your anti-US-beliefs antenna up. Yes, understandable, we should all be concerned of "the reds", but their ideals aren't evil. Our humanity makes them what they are, and I'm afraid that yet again, human greed has made Hugo Chaves powerful again.
South America isn't the most just continent of the world, we are pretty awful. Our culture is to benefit ourselves and let the others live their lives, without giving them a single look (Unless they have material things more modern than us.) We are greedy, and don't even try to conceal our ways of stealing others.
Now that we got that clear, you can interpret that most South Americans like to be powerful and have stuff.
The Argentinian president, Christina Kirschner, also got re-elected last year, and although most Argentinian people who I've talk with hate her, she still won with a 54 percent. This statistic screams suspicious. Could she had manipulated the electoral vote people to win the elections? Of Course. She already sends people to stave others to death, she steals from people's pockets and gives no public service or structures. She's a great lady, so pretty too.
Oh yeah.
...
....
Where am I going to with this? Don't trust the South American government. I don't know much about Chaves, but in Argentina, the government is dirty like a freshly pooped diaper. You can't trust them. Since Kirschner and Chavez are friends, my guts tells me that they are from the same side, that they will do anything to stay in power. The South American people of every country know about this, but are too lazy to do anything, whose who can't take it any more, leave the country because they can't fight against them.
Who knows, someday it may interest you. Someday, a South American cultured dude may get a high rank possision and make the government greedy, and corrupted...You know, it's just a thought...
....You have been warned...!
JK!

I don't know if i agree with the statement that the people of South America are just too lazy to do something about their government. In an opressive state, people are afraid to rise up. I'm sure they would like change, but fear is a powerful emotion.
ReplyDeleteEeh, I've been there, and I know how they are. Yeah, we are not all lazy :) People still go to their jobs, and get things done. It's just that they don't think that they can actually work together to overthrow the government if they would wish to...Gasp! I should ask them (the people I know) if they are afraid or not! See what actually goes through their minds! :D
DeleteIn some cases people might just be lazy *cough* the American people *cough*. We've seen corruption and what have we done about it? Essentially nothing. It seems like the people in South Africa are both lazy and afraid. Some are too lazy to stand up for what they know is right and other are too afraid to do the same.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting post and I appreciate the cultural relevance!
