What happened next?

I think most people can see the similarities between us and chimps... We have flat faces, skin and hair, etc, etc, even thumbs! How could I have forgotten....

When we watched the movie of Keeli and Ivy, and the one of Nim, something that was hidden on the back of my mind popped out, and reminded me chimps have feelings and are very smart, thinking creatures. Maybe I did not know that before, but I always had a feeling that we were close cousins.

Anyway, that was one of the things that the movies made me think about. But what occupied my brain the most was what happened with the chimps, Keeli and Ivy specially, after the movie was over?
We weren't given a flash forward on the chimp's future, right?

I did my research and I found out that the movie was realised in 2002 but in 2006 the Chimpanzee Centre had to close because of the lack of funds. Some chimps were sent to Primarily Primates in Texas, a sanctuary and research facility for chimps and many, many other species of animals. The remaining of the chimps were sent to the Chimp Have; Keeli and Ivy were sent there. A few chimps that belonged to the Ohio University passed away in the process of changing location, others died at their new home.

It saddens me that I couldn't find more info about Keeli and Ivy, and their life in the "new" home. But hey! Next time I go to LA, I may go see them! :D
